A Busy Week with an even Busier Summer Ahead

March 31, 2026

Listening to the Heart of Sheridan County  This week, I had the privilege of meeting one-on-one with several neighbors to discuss their hopes and concerns for our community. Our conversations spanned everything from water rights to attainable housing and livable wages. I continue to be inspired by how thoughtful and engaged our citizens are; there is a palpable sense of hope for the future of Sheridan County that I am proud to champion.

Getting Educated on Education  I met with Superintendent Scott Stultz to discuss how the 2026 budget session and the school formula recalibration will impact our local districts. As the district begins its budgeting process, the full impact of the State Legislature’s decision to “silo” specific funds remains to be seen. I’ve promised Superintendent Stultz that I will return to review the details once they emerge, hopeful that our schools have the resources they need to thrive.

Coffee in Ranchester and Lunch in Dayton  The highlight of my Thursday was a trip Tongue River Valley. A friend and I started the morning at Innominate Bakery in Ranchester, enjoying coffee, rolls, and the local Thursday morning music jam. Afterward, we visited the Dayton Town Hall and joined the community for lunch at the Dayton Community Center.

As a new board member for The Hub on Smith, I was thrilled to see firsthand how their weekday lunch program is benefiting our friends in Dayton. It’s a vital service that keeps our community connected.

From Winter Snow to Spring Soil  The seasons are shifting, and so is my gear! I’ve officially swapped the downhill skis and snowshoes for garden tools and my bicycle. For me, spring means two things: tending to my flower beds and training for the Dead Swede on June 6th.

I also joined the line this Saturday to snag tickets for the WYO Rodeo (July 8–11). These events are more than just fun—they are economic engines. We are incredibly fortunate to host tourists from across the country who come to experience our “excellent gravel” and our legendary western traditions.

Moving Forward  My calendar is filling up with meetings with community leaders over the next few weeks. Once those are wrapped, I’ll be hitting the pavement to start knocking on doors in House District 51. I look forward to meeting you on your porch soon!
