Congratulations and support from LAW PAC!

August 13, 2026

The Lawyers Active in Wyoming Political Action Committee (LAWPAC) congratulated me on being a candidate for the Wyoming State Legislature and thanked me for my commitment to Wyoming and the legislative process.

A current issue that the LAWPAC is following is the system whereby judges are selected.  In 2026, the House and Senate both had draft legislation that failed to be introduced that proposed direct election of judges instead of the merit-based system currently in place in Wyoming.

Wyoming currently uses a Modified Missouri Plan: the Judicial Nominating Commission vets candidates and submits a shortlist to the Governor, and appointed judges later face non-partisan retention votes.

A question about this proposal to elect judges was asked of candidates at the Sheridan County GOP debates earlier this year. Although I was not asked this question, I will answer here.  I support the system of appointing judges on merit that is currently in place in Wyoming.
