My Core Conservative Values: Pro-Second Amendment
Defending our constitutional right to keep and bear arms is non-negotiable. I am a lifelong supporter of the Second Amendment and responsible firearm ownership. I own two handguns and carry one when traveling in my motorhome. I completed NRA Hunter Safety in South Dakota at age 16, and I grew up in a family where hunting was a normal part of life — my parents and my former husband hunted regularly. Venison and antelope were on the dinner menu often. My late husband had a Wyoming concealed carry permit.
I participate annually in a skeet shoot with my Rotary Club at our local Sportsman’s Shooting Range, which keeps me connected to Wyoming’s shooting‑sports community and reinforces the importance of safe, responsible firearm handling. I practice shooting at indoor and outdoor shooting ranges with family members.
In my professional role as Vice President at Sheridan College, I represented the Sheridan Economic and Educational Development Authority (SEEDA) when Weatherby was considering relocating to Wyoming. I hosted the company during its site‑selection process, wrote the successful $12 million grant application that helped secure their new facility, and organized the groundbreaking in 2018. Supporting the arrival of a respected firearms manufacturer was an important moment for Sheridan County’s economy, workforce, and identity, and I was proud to play a role in bringing those jobs and that heritage to Wyoming.
