Fireworks, Food, and Future Generations: My Fourth of July in Sheridan County

July 6, 2026

I spent a wonderful Fourth of July attending a series of incredible community events across Sheridan County.

My day kicked off at the Ranchester Volunteer Fire Department pancake breakfast. This is only their second year celebrating Independence Day this way, but it was so fantastic that it is officially going to become my traditional start to the holiday moving forward!

From there, I ventured over to Dayton for the local Farmers’ Market. While browsing the stands, my dog Migo and I both made a new young friend, and I couldn’t resist purchasing two delicious varieties of fresh sourdough bread.

Next, Migo and I stopped back in Sheridan to take in the America’s 250th Anniversary Celebration at Kendrick Park, before heading up to Big Horn to catch their afternoon parade. Migo enjoyed the attention as a photographer called his name as we drove in the parade.

After dropping Migo off at home for a well-deserved rest, I picked up some friends and returned to where my day started: Ranchester. We gathered at Town Hall for an amazing evening celebration—listening to the easy, soulful music of The Two Tracks, visiting with old friends, meeting plenty of new folks, and enjoying a classic cheeseburger perfectly cooked by the Ranchester-Dayton Rotary Club.

Reflecting on Our Responsibility

While soaking in the joy and festivities of the day, I also took time to remember the true meaning of the holiday. I reflected on how vital our democratic principles are, the immense magnitude of the work done by our forefathers, and the profound responsibility we all share to remain informed, engaged citizens.

I am incredibly encouraged by the sheer energy and patriotism surrounding the campaigns right here in Sheridan County and across the great State of Wyoming. It fills me with hope that, together, we will leave our children and grandchildren an even stronger, better state and country.

God Bless the USA—and please remember to make your voice heard in the upcoming primary election on August 18th!
