I am deeply honored to receive the support of the hardworking men and women in the construction industry. This line of work is part of my DNA. During the 1930s, after losing their land in northwest South Dakota, my paternal grandparents chose a new path—starting a road construction business with little more than a team of horses and a cook wagon. My father carried on that legacy, serving as a Navy Seabee building airstrips on Okinawa during World War II. Growing up, my own childhood was spent in mobile homes parked alongside rural job sites across South Dakota and Wyoming. Having lived that life, I hold immense respect for the skill, grit, and dedication required to build the sturdy bridges and well-maintained roadways that keep our country moving forward.
